any update?
Comment by Krzysztof Grygiencz (kfgz) - Sunday, 05 June 2011, 11:22 GMT
Hmm... I'm currently testing this issue under kernel 3.0.0-rc1. It seems that it's related to kernel power regressions. More details here

I put fan onto north bridge radiator. Temp of onboard GPU has drop down. It seems that too hot temperature caused this lockups (I'm 70% sure of that). I'll report when I'm done with testing.

Do you monitor your temps with lm-sensors, if something get's too hot the kernel good freeze, and if you gpu get's too hot it's likely your screen is going to freeze

I'm monitoring CPU and MOSFETS with lm-sensors. Both temps are OK (max 50 degrees celcius). My GPU temp was 70 without fan. With fan, around 40. I also noticed that even with fan mounted on GPU, screen freezes for a fraction of a second on kernel 2.6.37.x, which was not happening before :/ So it's quite possible, that this is a hardware related problem. I'll try to figure it out which component is failing. The suspect are

1. GPU.
2. Tv tuner (it's quite old - 10 years exactly).
3. Hdd.

and with .38?

With. 38 too and also with 3.0-rc1. I'll remove tv tuner tomorrow and see what happens.

You can close this task as fixed. I don't have this lockups anymore. Maybe it's the linux 3.0-rc3 or maybe this was some unexplained issues with my hardware.
