Description:

I received the following warning from full system upgrade after a few upgrades (see below):

:: Synchronizing package databases...
core is up to date
extra is up to date
community is up to date
multilib is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade...
warning: lirc-utils: local (0.9.0.pre1-2) is newer than extra (0.9.0-1)
there is nothing to do

Problem is resolved through pacman -Suu but it seems to be a packaging bug

Additional info:
* package version(s)
* config and/or log files etc.

This occured after the following packages were upgraded:
giflib (4.1.6-3 -> 4.1.6-4)
gstreamer0.10-base (0.10.32-2 -> 0.10.32-4)
poppler (0.16.3-1 -> 0.16.4-1)
poppler-glib (0.16.3-1 -> 0.16.4-1)
startup-notification (0.10-1 -> 0.10-2)

Yeah, it's because of lirc-utils' weird versioning scheme. Bumping epoch should fix that.
