Here, firefox starts up in English as well, instead of Dutch. In about:config, the general.useragent.locale value is set to nl-BE so that seems ok. Separately installing the dutch language addon resolves the issue.

No Russian localization too.

The PKGBUILD for firefox-i18n is easy to screw up. For example, the .xpi files have the same file name for each version (and if you use SRCDEST, that leads to failure). There are more way to break it, sadly.

they changed the format of the language for .jar to a directory with a bunch of directory+files. I guess the location of the directory is wrong or something. Jan is looking into this

Yes, I have the same problem with Spanish locale.

Same here with Italian language.

I think it happens with all languages...

Simply copying the .xpi langpacks to /usr/lib/firefox-4.0/extensions/ (without extracting) works for me

EDIT: they have to be named in the format langpack-xx-XX@firefox.mozilla.org.xpi

Can confirm this also happens with danish localization.

Same with Polish.

Have a look at firefox-beta-i18n from AUR which I adopted and modified: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=45595
It worked for me on firefox-beta-kde-opensuse.
