and SLOW boot in udev daemon step

Additional info:
* package version(s)
* config and/or log files etc.

udev-166-2

Steps to reproduce:

pacman -Syu and reboot.

kernel 2.6.37.4, sata controller SB710 AMD, this problem is no present with LG DVD-RW, so, is a problem of udev (GNU), my suggestion is that 166 version should be removed of [core] or when upgrade, advice in terminal that udev-166 with samsung SH-S233C DVD-RW generates error.

The problem is fixed if:

pacman -Rd udev
pacman -U udev-164-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz or i686

This looks like the problem: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/hotplug/udev.git;a=commit;h=560de575148b7efda3b34a7f7073abd483c5f08e

Your drive doesn't handle the "ATA IDENTIFY PACKET DEVICE" command properly. You either need to find a way to upgrade the firmware on it, or there needs to be a workaround in the kernel to prevent this command from being used.

This needs to be brought up with the udev guys, they'll know what to do.

The firmware is the last one, i see this problem also in others optical disk, from different vendors:

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=115160
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=111197&p=7

I think that, is a problem of udev, but, i tested with kernel 2.6.38.1 and works fine, i read that is a problem with libata in the kernel.
Other sintom strange, if optical disk has a CD or DVD does not appear this error in dmesg, only produce a slow start of udev until read the disk into optical unit.
I propose a downgrade in the repos to version 164-3 or patch the version 166-2, since much people have this error.
In the case that a downgrade is not possible, tell me how contact the udev guys.

The right solution seems easy: Fix the problem in the kernel. If the problem was fixed in libata for 2.6.38.1, we can surely find a fix for .37 and .32 (or these fixes were alresdy included in the latest version).

Is this still an issue?

If so, please email <linux-hotplug@vger.kernel.org> with your report.
