Did you reported this? it was accepted?
Nothing will come of reporting this issue, moreover - it's already reported several times a long time ago and even with suggested patches.
Are we dealing with this on a case-by-case basis?

You can open this patch and realize what this stupid bug is. This patch isn't rejected - it isn't accepted because developers по-русски похуй.
We are nice people here, please calm down a little bit, or low a little bit your tone.
I remember to have tested this patch the same day that I saw for first time on the bugtracker. I think is silly and yes, it's usable, and certainly fix the problem, but I thought that is more productive to have it upstream instead having us (devs of a linux distro) patching their software anytime they have something broken.
I will apply this, since I know it fix a problem, I've reviewed the code (there are very few lines) and is a secure IMO, hoping that the htop devs will apply it (they didn't denied yet) on the next release .. thanks for your contribution.
Oh, please be kind next time on bugreports there is no need to be harsh.
I think that self-respectful distributive should use only quality software. If it is broken - fix them, use old stable version or don't use at all.
