DetailsDescription:
sudo -v always returns "failed" exit status (1) even if the command was successful. This behavior has shown up after upgrading to version 1.8.0-2. This breaks scripts/programs if they use this invocation to extend time limits and cache user credentials before executing privileged commands via sudo. An example for such script is "packer". As a consequence packer currently cannot use sudo even if it is present. Additional info: * package: sudo 1.8.0-2 Steps to reproduce: Run this supplying the correct password : sudo -v || echo failed I detected this on i686 architecture, x86_64 need to be tested. |

This is an upstream bug, already reported there: http://www.sudo.ws/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=479

I appreciate that it is an upstream bug, however having this bug in the sudo package breaks other Arch packages. So "it might be helpful to post them in Arch bug tracker so that both Arch developers and users get aware of it." (quoted from Reporting Bug Guidelines)

We developers appreciate having the URL to the upstream report; this way we are informed of comments, patches, etc. So it is helpful to post the upstream URL too.
