DetailsPackage:
mplayer(-libre) 32792-1 Error: (without openjpeg) -> mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libopenjpeg.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory (without libass) -> mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libass.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory (without faad2) -> mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libfaad.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Solution: Seems like openjpeg, libass and faad2 are runtime dependencies for mplayer. Installing those packages eliminates the errors and mplayer runs smoothly. Additional info: This error was discovered on a fresh Parabola GNU/Linux install. Installed xorg, lxde, gajim and then mplayer(-libre). Tried to run mplayer and got the errors listed above. Seeing that the ArchLinux mplayer package is missing those dependencies this should affect Arch too. |

You're wrong, Arch's mplayer uses its internal libass. And it works fine. I suggest you check that the packages are the same in Arch before reporting bugs from another distribution.

First of all, I did not know about the internal libass, if that is the case indeed. Second of all, I mentioned faad2 and not faac. Third of all, I also mentioned the openjpeg error which you did not comment anything about. Finally, I file bug reports with the best of intentions. If they prove to be genuinely irrelevant, assuming they have been checked, so be it. No need to get so aggressive after all. Cheers ;)
