linux-atm is not a dependency of any of the tools provided my iproute.
It complements the suite with ATM support by building a library, q_atm.so.
linux-atm is not that commonly used.
I think linux-atm could be made an optional dependency of iproute without affecting the functionality of the iproute package to the least.

Sorry, should be filled under core packages category , not extra.

Edit: For the record, see the Debian iproute package: http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/iproute which even though it depends on a split libatm, its only recommended, not a hard dependency of the package.

Is there any reason this hasnt been considered for the 2.6.38 update currently in testing? FWIW this could mean that linux-atm could also leave the core repository and no longer need signoffs.
