/usr/lib/gio/modules/libgiofm.so isn't part of gimp. What does:
pacman -Qo /usr/lib/gio/modules/libgiofm.so
gives you?

/usr/lib/gio/modules/libgiofm.so is owned by libfm 0.1.14-4

I uninstalled libfm and pcmanfm and now gimp starts.

I think is somehow broken on your pcmanfm + libfm.

I have pcmanfm, libfm running with gimp without a problem a without an error on x86_64

Are you using x86_64 ?

ping mikeplus64

would you mind to answer if you're really using pcman + libfm + gimp on Arch Linux x86_64 I am not able to reproduce your bug so I think this should be closed since we are unsure that this is really happening
