DetailsAfter following the instructions on the arch forum announcement to upgrade xfree86 and fontconfig, I still wasn't able to get into X. There was a file conflict with /usr/X11/libGL.so.1.
I fixed this by copying /usr/X11/libGL.so.1 to /usr/X11/libGL.so.1.old then removing the original file: rm /usr/X11/libGL.so.1. This is needed because xfree86 needs to create its own version of that file and finds a conflict if one exists. After that I was able to get into X no problem. I decided to delete the .old file after but it isn't necessary. This might be an isolated issue, but I wanted to mention it in case someone else ran into it. |

Noted, but not really fix-able. It only happens to certain people, so I'm guessing it's related to something else. Do you have the external nvidia driver installed?
