When a package has a line "MimeType=" in its /usr/share/applications/*.desktop file, it should run update-desktop-database in its install script to update the cache of MIME associations. This is pretty much like the mimefiles test so it should be easy to implement. |

There also needs to be a dependency to desktop-file-utils.
