java-runtime (or jre/openjdk6) dependency should be optional for libreoffice.
Most of us have java-runtime installed just for libreoffice/openoffice. The package works fine without it.
This task depends upon

There was a previous bug where the user needed java:

Version 3.3.0.4-2 does not need it anymore. Calc and everything works fine without JRE.

Also, I didn't say to remove the dependency, just make it optional.
The user will be noticed at install time that JRE could be needed for some functionality.

AFAIK the first run of libreoffice requires a java runtime. If you can't run an application for the first time, then it doesn't sound optional to me.

I erased my libreoffice settings dir (~/.config/.libreoffice) and it started-up/worked just fine.

Btw, the settings dir has a strange path. It should be either ~/.libreoffice or ~/.config/libreoffice
Maybe another bug?

now libreoffice replaces OO, I always used openoffice without jre and I agree that this dependency should be optional.

Most of Libre Office works fine without Java. If something like printing support is optional (libcups) then Java certainly should be too.

And the same applies to all the extensions installed with Libre Office - none of them are needed to run LibreOffice.

Stuff like libcups isnt really optional. Libcups is a dependency of gtk2 which is a direct dependency of libreoffice.
Its probably reduntant listing it as an optional dependency.
