I've had trouble submitting to AUR via the uploading feature.

I think there should be an alternative method of submitting packages, namely that I could provide with an URL from where the AUR system would download the package.

This report may also be considered as a bug report for "Can't submit packages to AUR": when I try, I just get the error message: "Error trying to upload file - please try again."

Reason for closing:  Not a bug

Hmm. Can you use your browser to do uploads to other websites via web forms? For instance, can you attach a file in the attachments section of Flyspray? You could try attaching something to this bug via the Attachments tab.

Also, can you be a little more specific about the package you're trying to upload: filename, how big, contents. That might help us track this down.

Ah, I seem to have misunderstood something. I got the feeling that I'm supposed to upload binary packages to AUR, which is obviously not the case.

Therefore, this feature request is not relevant.

Also, I'd like to apologize for failing to read AUR docs well enough.
