Currently if you don't submit the pkgbuild and related files in a tar.gz, you won't have the option to set what the category of program it is. The ability to modify this in the My Packages area would probably be the best fit. Part of this may be due to the fact that it doesn't set who maintains it in the aur. The person who created the package shows up correctly in the cvs information, but not in the package listing in AUR under maintainer.

The ability to modify category from the web interface in general seems like a needed feature.

Let's handle the discussion of the maintainer stuff in another bug, just because I'm not sure that they're always related, and it's easier to work on them independently.

For packages in Unsupported, further discussion has determined that there's a way to do this: re-upload your package to Unsupported. Perhaps this should be better touted somewhere in documentation. Maybe there would be reason for a more elegant solution later, but not for v1.

For packages in the AUR, category needs to be determined by the directory hierarchy in CVS, and not settable from the interface.

Thus, as I understand it, we don't need editing of the category in the interface at this time. However, there is another bug that needs to be fixed relating to getting the category from the directory hierarchy for packages in AUR.

Please let me know if you feel this isn't a satisfactory solution, otherwise I'll be closing this bug for now.
