LibreOffice places launchers in the Office and Internet categories, so this must be something wrong on your system.

there is a bug in either gnome-panel or in libreoffice. it doesn't show until you killall gnome-panel

wonder is right. The entries didn't show up when I installed it, but after a reboot it did (which is probably the same as killall gnome-panel).
