The udisks package currently depends on device-mapper, lvm2 & sg3_utils.
These applications are not part of the main functionality of udisks, but are only used in case the user uses an LVM or SCSI setup.
Furthermore, cryptsetup which is used in udisks-helper-change-luks-password is not listed as a dependency at all.
3/4 packages are already in the base group (dm,lvm2 & cryptsetup) so it should be assumed that a user with such a setup, or even without it, should already have them installed.
I would like to request for all 4 of them to become optional dependencies of udisks.

Reason for closing:  Won't implement
Additional comments about closing:  udisks ships with udev rules that runs many of the helper utilities. I don't want to have errors showing up in the logs because of missing libraries.

Also forgot mdadm, used by udisks-helper-mdadm-expand. Same situation as cryptsetup.

 FS#20196  ?

i really want it to work out of the box on all setups.

my experience say that users don't pay attention at optdepends at all, judging by the messages from the forums regarding nautilus/gvfs samba shares/iphone/bluetooth
