My collection is on a remote mysql server, I just switched from amarok-git (I was using it for the known amarok-2.3/mysql-5.5 problems) but when I start amarok from the console, I get this output:

$ amarok
amarok(28629)/kdecore (KLibrary) kde4Factory: The library "/usr/lib/kde4/amarok_collection-mysqlservercollection.so" does not offer a qt_plugin_instance function.
amarok(28629)/kdecore (KLibrary) kde3Factory: The library "/usr/lib/kde4/amarok_collection-mysqlservercollection.so" does not offer an "init_amarok_collection-mysqlservercollection" function.
[...]

and amarok displays an empty collection. I tried to rescan the dirs, but it simply does nothing.

so I compiled amarok using abs' prototype, and these messages disappeared. plus amarok now connects and displays correctly the collection.

I am using amarok-2.4.0-1 and mysql-5.5.8-6 from testing

mysql from testing has ABI incompatible and we need to recompile all the packages, if i remember well

I didn't rebuilt it because it doesn't start with 5.5.8 (mysql upstream bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=252424)

well, we have already talked about this earlier on irc: it seems that if you had an external mysql server setted up before the mysql upgrade amarok would start (this is my case)

I'll stick with my compiled-from-abs one, since it works fine for me even with mysql 5.5.8

PS: is it worth putting a depends=mysql<5.5 so people using testing will not install this amarok?
