According to
http://library.gnome.org/devel/menu-spec/#category-registry
every .desktop file should list at least one 'Main Category'. I suggest adding the 'Education' category to r.desktop.

BTW heres the output when desktop-file-validate is run against r.desktop:

r.desktop: warning: key "TerminalOptions" in group "Desktop Entry" is deprecated
r.desktop: error: value "Science;Math" for string list key "Categories" in group "Desktop Entry" does not have a semicolon (';') as trailing character
