Details

After updating bzr to 2.2.2-1 my PS1 prompt had changed because of the
/etc/bash_completion.d/bzrbashprompt.sh
file.

This is very unfortunate and in fact intolerable. This fiole should be removed from the package.
It is deemed optional after all from the comments in it:

# modify PS1 to your preference and include this file in your bashrc
# or copy to /etc/bash_completions.d.
