DetailsDescription:
A kernel panic occurs when NetworkManager is connecting via PPPoE. This does not happen when connecting with pppoe-connect of rp-pppoe. Netowork card is Broadcom BCM5784M (tg3 driver), and the machine itself is a Dell Studio 1535. Unfortunately, I was unable to collect kernel crash messages, I will collect them ASAP. Additional info: rp-pppoe 3.10-5 networkmanager 0.8.3-0.20101130 kernel26 2.6.36.2-1 ppp 2.4.5-1 Extract from logs: (please note the timing, it makes it clear when the crash occured) === everything.log === Nov 15 17:40:36 normandy NetworkManager[2304]: <info> Activation (eth0) starting connection 'ICN' Nov 15 17:40:36 normandy NetworkManager[2304]: <info> (eth0): device state change: 3 -> 4 (reason 0) Nov 15 17:40:36 normandy NetworkManager[2304]: <info> Activation (eth0) Stage 1 of 5 (Device Prepare) scheduled...
