Description:
LibreOffice needs a java runtime. I just installed LibreOffice and tried to start LibreOffice Calc the first time and get a message that it needs a jre. So it is not optional! I don't know, maybe it just needs it for the start-wizard. After starting LibreOffice one time with an installed jre I could delete the jre again and everything works fine.

By the way, I thought the official homepage of LibreOffice is http://www.libreoffice.org/ and not http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/LibreOffice like written in the package "libreoffice" the language-packages all use http://www.documentfoundation.org. It's a bit irritating.

I was told you can start LibO even without having java installed. It was a few times to click away the msg that is shown, then java is indeed optional. Can you confirm this?

I could click away the message three times, and after that LibreOffice closed. So java isn't optional.
