Who wants to maintain it? I don't use Fortran, nor any Fortran-dependent packages.

Worse comes to worst, I can maintain it. Even though I don't use fortran, I have the bandwidth and the cpu time.

I could maintain a bunch of packages too. I don't use fortran, but it wouldn't be a problem to maintain a part of gcc (other distros have this package, so patches and user experience is widely available ;))

and what abt gcj (gnu java compiler) ? its gaining steady momentum and is usable. (even eclipse runs with it). Anybody willing to maintain it ?
java-gnome is also pretty good.
Can this be discussed here or do i need to file a separate request?

also, we need more development packages - that way , more developers will use arch.

I've done gcc-g77 now, it only needs a different --enable-languages and a different source tarball to become gcc-gcj (and ofcourse a different name :P).
I'm compiling octave with it, hope I can close these 3 bugs with it.
