Details
An attempt to use Sagem XG-762N WLAN USB dongle (zd1211-rw
module) in monitor mode with kernel 2.6.36 ends up in a
kernel panic. With 2.6.35 it worked fine.
To reproduce: 1. Plug in the usb dongle, bring up the interface 2. Start wireshark 3. Click Interface list 4. Click Options next to zd1211-rw interface (usually wlan0) and check "Monitor mode" 5. Click Start, observe the kernel panic alternatively: 1. Plug in usb dongle 2. Run airodump-ng wlan0 3. Observe the kernel panic I have tried taking photos of the call trace with a cell phone camera but the quality is insufficient. The laptop has no serial port and I do not have any other machine at hand anyway. For now I have just written down the 'header' of the call trace. I will try to get better pictures in the following days. Meanwhile maybe someone will be able to replicate the issue. |

There is an older report here with more information:
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/21683
is this still an issue with a newer kernel? If so report it
upstream
This bug has been fixed in a later kernel release. Please close
this report. I believe #21683 is obsolete as well.
