Do you have some other script that sets $GNOMEDIR? I added two lines to fix the multiple inclusion problem that causes /opt/gnome/bin to appear something like 100 times for those people who start shells over and over.

no other script i think it takes the old variable to be present, while source /etc/profile will empty the PATH and create a new one.

the huge $PATH seems to have been fixed now, dunno how , but i tried it and PATH didnt have repeated elements.
