DetailsDescription: Warning Message About Pango When Running Applications
Additional info: Arch 2010.05 i686 * package version(s) pango-1.28.3-1-i686 * config and/or log files etc. - Nothing in the logs related to this Steps to reproduce: If I run any application from the terminal I get this message back. Here is an example from Xchat [sar@arch ~]$ xchat (xchat:2990): Pango-WARNING **: failed to choose a font, expect ugly output. engine-type='PangoRenderFc', script='common' If I don't see the message after running the application in a terminal I'll see it when I log out of Gnome into the console since I don't use GDM. I've tried reinstalling fontconfig and pango, I've also installed a few extra fonts and I ran these cmds; fc-cache -f -s -v, and pango-querymodules > '/etc/pango/pango.modules' and nothing has helped. This is my font path; [sar@arch fonts]$ ls 100dpi 75dpi cyrillic encodings misc OTF TTF Type1 util My font count; [sar@arch fonts]$ fc-list | wc -l 159 I really can't say that I see anything wrong with my Gnome desktop, everything looks great, but I personally don't like seeing warnings and failures like this being reported even if there is no problem. If it's just a bug I'd at least like to clean it up and get rid of the message if I can. THANKS |

What font is xchat actually using here? I can't reproduce this, and if you don't see "ugly output", I don't think it's a big issue.
