Description:

The actual PKGBUILD does not enable by default (well, configure doesn't, either) the building of the udunits library now distributed along NetCDF. This library is needed together with NetCDF by other packages (mostly in AUR), and forces the existence in AUR of the udunits/udunits2 packages. A simple hack, a symbolik link, present in the udunits or udunits2 PKGBUILD can enable also back compatibility for older software still needing the old udunits 1 API.

Additional info:
* netcdf 4.1.1.3
* the --enable-udunits should be added to configure line.
* See udunits PKGBUILD for the link hack,

for x in a so so.0 so.0.0.0; do
ln -s libudunits2.$x \
$pkgdir/usr/lib/libudunits.$x
done

Udunits is now in the community repo https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/i686/udunits
Its also built with system expat now.

So this can be closed then?

Ok. It also seems that the udunits package is actively developed out of netcdf and the internal version inside the netcdf library is not the most up to date (2.1.21 instead of 2.1.22 available on udunits page wich has bug fixes). May we add an hint that to have unit of measure conversion capabilities, the user is invited to install udunits package?

I'm not a fan of adding install messages, as are most other devs. Maybe adding it somewhere in the wiki is the best option if it is not clear otherwise.
