Description: X window errors in various applications caused by upgrade to qtcurve-*.1.7.1-1

After system upgrade yesterday I now have discovered three applications that will not start anymore, error messages below.
checkgmail-svn
The program 'checkgmail' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
(Details: serial 159 error_code 8 request_code 2 minor_code 0)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

sonata works for me, aMule doesn not. (I only have qtcurve-gtk2)
reported upstream.

I'm seeing this problem with qtcurve and various panel applets in my XFCE desktop, namely: xfce4-power-manager, nm-applet.

Temporary workaround: go to System Settings->Application Appearance->Configure->Applications
add the name of the application to "No menu opacity (GTK2)"
