please add that tool, it saved my a$$ the other day under Novell LD. it's supposed to be part of the default gconf2 package.

Additional comments about closing:  It's a suse specific script, not any other distro uses it.

This is because gconftool-rebuild is an unofficial binary that doesn't exist in the upstream gconf version. It looks like it's a SuSE specific script.
What does it do exactly? Because we're working on shared functions in PKGBUILDs, and one of the functions I prepared for gconf2 was a function to register GConf schemas for one package, or, without a parameter, for all packages installed on the system.

It allows you to rebuild the default database if the gconf database crashes. It has happened to me...
