Description:

The erlang port mapping daemon needs to be run in order to establish live erlang nodes. Archlinux currently doesn't supply an epmd initscript.

Maybe just take mine (attached).

Additional comments about closing:  Just checked, and the erlang package does include an epmd script. Please reopen if this is should happen to be about a different sort of epmd script than the one included with erlang.

Actually, I was just told, that normally, the daemon *should* be started by the erlang system itself, which mine didn't for some reason. I am unsure as to whether an initscript is needed at all, but I definitely had to start epmd by hand on some occasions.
