Same problem here. I only can login if I use KDE failsafe.

I have the same problem when I logout, restart or shutdown, I get the segfault. I do not have any problems starting KDE, setup to autostart KDE.

I have the same problem when I logout, restart or shutdow on two machines.

The problem appears after upgrade KDE to 4.5.2 and relate the new configuration file /usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc.pacnew.

I was looking around in my /var/logs/daemons.log and found these messages:

Oct 6 14:51:20 localhost polkitd[3172]: started daemon version 0.98 using authority implementation `local' version `0.98'
Oct 6 14:52:21 localhost kdm_greet[3525]: Cannot load /usr/share/apps/kdm/faces/.default.face: No such file or directory

Any idea if this is triggering the segfaults?

sorry, but I cannot reproduce this on my system and I have no idea about the cause.
@ unikum
we didn't change any configuration files.

guys, do you have some idea?
Comment by Ronald van Haren (pressh) - Friday, 08 October 2010, 19:45 GMT
I haven't seen this either. Does it also happen on testing repo for any of you guys?

>Does it also happen on testing repo for any of you guys?
I don't use testing repositories. In .xsession-errors I found following message: QMetaObject::invokeMethod: No such method PolicyKitKDE::loadCommandLineOptionsForNewInstance()

This bug also registered in Fedora 14 bugzilla (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=637064)

I use testing repo and I also have the same bug. Every time I logout from KDE.

I mentioned this in the forum thread but I'll repeat here. This bug is also reported in bugs.kde.org under # 248636. I just looked at it again and there is a report of a possible fix. It has to do with the differences in versions of polkit-qt and packagekit. I have not had time to checkout/tryout their suggestions but wanted to report their progress.

And I don't use testing repo.
