On attempting to start xcdroast I got this error:
** (xcdroast:11370): WARNING **: The configured system-config-directory "/usr/etc"
was not found. Aborting..

After asking for help in #archlinux on freenode someone told me to ln -s /etc to /usr/etc. This fixed the problem but I imagine it needs fixing in the package.

It shouldn't be looking in /usr/etc. It sounds like a local problem because the current version runs fine for me and does not place anything in /usr/etc.

The current version shouldn't be looking in /usr/etc. the old one, built against GTK 1.x instead of GTK 2.x does look in /usr/etc. This has been fixed in the latest version, which is 0.98alpha15-2

Hmm, someone here seems to be able to reproduce it with 0.98alpha15-2.
Also some things:
- xorg should be removed from dependencies, x-server is a virtual dependency taken by gtk2 already
- Change mirror to dl.sourceforge.net instead of your local mirror.

A recompile fixed the problem though. Dorphell: are you sure the uploaded package matches the PKGBUILD in CVS?

Yeah it seems like the same pkg but I'll clean up and reup just in case
