After upgrading to Kernel 2.6.35.7-1 (from 2.6.35.6-1) the ipw2100 wireless interface on my Acer Travelmate 660 does not function anymore. The interface does not even power up.

Kernel log excerpt:
Sep 30 16:35:41 localhost kernel: ipw2100: eth0: No response from Symbol - hw not alive
Sep 30 16:35:41 localhost kernel: ipw2100: eth0: Error loading microcode: -5
Sep 30 16:35:41 localhost kernel: ipw2100: eth0: Failed to power on the adapter.
Sep 30 16:35:41 localhost kernel: ipw2100: eth0: Failed to start the firmware.
Sep 30 16:35:41 localhost kernel: b44 ssb0:0: eth0: Broadcom 44xx/47xx 10/100BaseT Ethernet 00:c0:9f:32:c5:36
Sep 30 16:35:41 localhost kernel: ipw2100Error calling register_netdev.
Sep 30 16:35:41 localhost kernel: ipw2100 0000:02:04.0: PCI INT A disabled
Sep 30 16:35:41 localhost kernel: ipw2100: probe of 0000:02:04.0 failed with error -5

Downgrading to Kernel 2.6.35.6-1 resolved the issue and ipw2100 works fine.

With Kernel 2.6.35.6-1 the log shows the following:
Sep 30 17:27:14 localhost kernel: ipw2100: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2100 Network Driver, git-1.2.2
Sep 30 17:27:14 localhost kernel: ipw2100: Copyright(c) 2003-2006 Intel Corporation

Weird, from .6 to .7 there is only one change that is related only for Xen.

Try this experiment: instead of loading ipw2100.ko from .7 try to load ipw2100 from .6.

Am I missing something here: "ipw2100: eth0:" --- "b44 ssb0:0: eth0:"? Why is it the same interface (eth0)? What are the logs related to b44 in .6?

Sep 30 18:40:34 localhost kernel: b44 ssb0:0: eth1: Broadcom 44xx/47xx 10/100BaseT Ethernet 00:c0:9f:32:c5:36

I assume that with .7 it assigns eth0 to the network card once it detects that the wireless is not available.
