chromium (also firefox, but not opera) segfaults after a recent pacman -Syu. gdb shows this:

[...]

[New Thread 0xb0859b70 (LWP 27589)]
warning: no loadable sections found in added symbol-file /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

ld-linux.so.2 belongs to glibc, reinstalling it does not help.

I have read the forum threads about this problem, but the proposed fixes (removing config files) don't work for me. It seems some people fixed this by reinstalling their system, which I would rather avoid.

a ~$ chromium-browser -version
Chromium 7.0.535.0

that chromium version is not from our repos.

ok, so deleting /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so, which does not belong to any installed package, fixes the segfault.

sorry about the version confusion. i installed "chromium-browser-bin" from the AUR to check if it makes a difference. Chromium 6.0.472.62 from extra segfaulted just the same. unfortunately I can't show you now because after removing /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so I don't get the segfault anymore.

ok, after deleting /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so and reinstalling flashplugin from the repos, everything works again. Still, something seems to be wrong when after pacman -Syu, the two most important browsers stop working on Arch. But as far as I am concerned, this bug can be closed again. Sorry for the noise.
