DetailsCould the package maintainer for lame please add --enable-nasm to the lame PKGBUILD and configure script to the official package IE: ./configure --enable-nasm
This allows lame to take advantage of and detect MMX/3dnow/SSE/SSE2 on whichever computer the compiled binary is run on, and enable acceleratin for the features detected Should help optimize arch linux a bit more |

Yes, this should be done as soon as possible (today:)! I've already talked about this problem in this topic (I linked my --enable-nasm compiled version to test): http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=7158
As I wrote there: even the debian's i386-package contains these optimizations, because lame can do RUNTIME CPU DETECTION. And you can diasble asm from command-line.
