Description:
With the 2010.05(net and core) installer there some issues when creating an encrypted software raid root partition. The "configure system" part works only the first time, when "Done" is called. If this part is executed again, then the encrypt hook is called multiple times. Rebuilding the initcpio images screen shows: ... ::Parsing hook [encrypt] ::Parsing hook [encrypt] .. Don't know what happens under the hood, but rebooting will present you with the message "Device NAME already exists", after entering the correct password. Additional info: mkinitcpio.conf contains: modules="aes_generic aes_x86_64 ext3 ext4 dm_mod dm_crypt" hooks="base udev autodetect pata scsi sata usbinput keymap mdadm encrypt filesystems" Steps to reproduce: 1. start installer 2. create raid for root partition with mdadm 3. start installer 4. create a encrypted root partition and follow the installer until the "configure system" part 5. change to console and generate the mdadm.conf (/mnt/etc/mdadm.conf) 6. configure all relevant parts 7. mkinitcpio.conf should contain hooks mdadm and encrypt 8. choose done 9. enter "configure system" again (make some changes) 10. choose done (now the encrypt hook will be excuted twice) 11. finish the installation 12. reboot 13. enter password 14. read the endless following message "Device root already exists", after entering the correct password. |
