The Lirc daemon doesn't create /dev/lirc0. Lirc functionality is disrupted, irw won't work properly. Problem reported multiple times on the forum: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=100692 https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=81531 https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=99897 Additional info: * package version: 0.8.6-7 * architecture tested: x86_64 * log file (/var/log/lircd): Sep 19 05:19:43 htpc lircd: lircd(default) ready, using /var/run/lirc/lircd Sep 19 05:19:53 htpc lircd: accepted new client on /var/run/lirc/lircd Sep 19 05:19:53 htpc lircd: could not get file information for /dev/lirc0 Sep 19 05:19:53 htpc lircd: default_init(): No such file or directory Sep 19 05:19:53 htpc lircd: WARNING: Failed to initialize hardware Steps to reproduce: Just install the package and check: the bug is present on a clean install. To check, use irw. It won't record any key presses on the remote. |
This task depends upon

if so, disable the used kernel modules ( the new ones ) to make lirc work, else use the new kernel subsystem and drop lirc
