Description:

The Lirc daemon doesn't create /dev/lirc0. Lirc functionality is disrupted, irw won't work properly.

Additional info:
* package version: 0.8.6-7
* architecture tested: x86_64
* log file (/var/log/lircd):
Sep 19 05:19:43 htpc lircd: lircd(default) ready, using /var/run/lirc/lircd
Sep 19 05:19:53 htpc lircd: accepted new client on /var/run/lirc/lircd
Sep 19 05:19:53 htpc lircd: could not get file information for /dev/lirc0
Sep 19 05:19:53 htpc lircd: default_init(): No such file or directory
Sep 19 05:19:53 htpc lircd: WARNING: Failed to initialize hardware

Steps to reproduce:
Just install the package and check: the bug is present on a clean install.
To check, use irw. It won't record any key presses on the remote.

this can happen,

did you check if your IR receiver is supported by the new kernel IR subsystem ?

if so, disable the used kernel modules ( the new ones ) to make lirc work, else use the new kernel subsystem and drop lirc

Thanks! Preventing the "ir_core" kernel module from loading by modifying /etc/rc.conf definitely solved the problem! Now Lirc is working as expected again.
