It's not even really a true optdepends like a plugin linked to a library but more like an example in the config file. It can be substituted for any other apps that can play a sound or diplay a message on the screen, etc. That's why I originally didn't bothered by making it an optdepends. Maybe adding a comment in the config to remind users to install beep if they want to use the example would be good enough. I suppose that before starting the daemon, they'll check if the default config are OK for their system. Would that be an acceptable solution?
