FS#2067 - "internal compiler error: Segmentation fault" when compile qvwm
|
DetailsThis occurs from 0.7 beta2, I download Arch 0.7 iso today and then give a try. It occur again.
my environment: Windows 2003 + virtual pc 5.2 I just install base group and "xorg" package, then untar the qvwm lastest source code and into the source directory, run the following command: # ./configure --prefix=/usr # make when compile going to somewhere, gcc tell me this error message: "internal compiler error: Segmentation fault" and make is fault. I run make several times, the error occur random. But it's ok when I boot the 2.4 kernel. At the last I can run to the qvwm desktop, whenever boot 2.4 or 2.6 kernel. Another things is when I run to qvwm, and open a terminal, within it I can compile the qvwm successfully. To confirm, I do this twice, compile will fault under tty but success in xterm under qvwm. I do this with udev, and have a try with devfs, it fault alse. Qvwm from http://www.qvwm.org, version 1.1.12 |
This task depends upon
"... SEGMENTATION FAULT (ignore) # ignore any
of these You will see a lot of error message, these can
be safely ignored. You may get segmentation faults on
some of the below commands, just try the command again
until it works. ..."
Bye
I have a test on my 'real' box and all compiling things is ok. So I think maybe the Arch is optimized for i686 and the VPC has something process uncorrectly, because the Slackware is right and it is optimized for i486.
And another problem is I can NOT run into X in my real box :'( I'll try other package like xfree86 and xorg 6.8.0/6.7.0, then give a detailed description.
Shall I open another task for this ? or just following this task (http://bugs.archlinux.org/index.php?do=details&id=1437)?
Please give me a suggestion.
