I confirm the above problem, and also it doesn't delete the confs if you say yes. you have to do it manually
~]€ cd .gconf/apps/panel/profiles/default/applets/
rm what you need
(until gconf-editor does it)
- add patch from CVS, bug in the post application
- register schemas in postinstall, remove on uninstall (upstream source doesn't even handle this)
- remove a hardcoded path, which is what caused the main problem
- Fixed dependencies to include gnome-python instead of only pygtk and gconf
