Reason for closing:  Fixed
Additional comments about closing:  Another one fixed, thanks for the patch. The gentoo people use a different patch, so I used that one though. Thanks for finding out.

I can't reproduce this, but you're the 2nd that opens a bug about this and actually filed it upstream. I'll look into it

How did you revert to 2.8.2? Just installing a package, reverting to previous PKGBUILD, or change version to 2.8.2 and leave everything as 2.8.3?

The reason why I ask is that we changed to hal/dbus as a dependency of gnome-vfs since 2.8.3, which could cause this problem (though I still can't reproduce it :P).

What kernel are you using, do you use udev and do you have dbus+hal running?

I revert to previous pkgbuild from http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/pub/os/Linux/distr/archlinux/ . I mean just did pacman -U gnome-vfs-2.8.2-1.pkg.tar.gz .

It appear that my problem was related to the use of LVM2 + raid1 . I just attached the patch found on gentoo (and it works well on my machine) :

http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65378

This patch was related to this post in gnome mailing list :
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/utopia-list/2004-September/msg00016.html

Hope you will include it in current gnomevfs :)
