For the official Nvidia driver to work (without having to use the Arch nvidia package - which doesn't work with many cards) the kernel needs a small patch. It's located at:
http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/2.6/2.6.10/2.6.10-ck5/patches/nvidia_6111-6629_compat2.diff

If that could be added to the kernel package, I'm sure people would like it.

it is the same driver as on the webpage of nvidia that we use in our package....

so this isn't really a bug.

I'm talking about the PREVIOUS Nvidia driver, not the "current" one that's packaged. The latest Nvidia driver does not work with some cards - specifically the GeForce4-MX. I have this card, and I know that many other Arch users do as well (I've seen them complaining on the IRC channel).

Until Nvidia fixes this issue, the patch is the only way to use the official Nvidia drivers, which are the only decent ones with the GF4MX. This card is modern enough to remain supported.
