Description:
I use pm-suspend to suspend on desktop. Sleeping goes normally, but on resume with nvidia driver (173xx) I see black screen and can't use keyboard, with nouveau driver my monitor hasn't any video signal. Suspending with nvidia and killed X server from tty1 after resume I see black screen again, but I can by touch run startx and I have my desktop. On nouveau this trick doesn't work. In middle of June suspend worked.

Have you tried downgrading the NVIDIA driver? Have you tried installing the NVIDIA driver directly from upstream sources?

i probably have a similar problem; intel graphics(i915), blank display after resume with .35 and later .34 kernels, 2.6.32-lts works ok. Any ideas to provide more backtrace? I need to hard-reboot after this happens every time. Thanks

update: try this please

hi, i run [testing],intel i915, with 2.6.34-X and 2.6.35 kernels I had similar problem: after resume the screen was blank, no reponse to keyboard(sysrq) etc.

I found this thread : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/578673 , please see comment #58, for me, moving(!not only renaming, but moving to eg. ~) files 99video and 98video-quirk-db-handler solved the problem completely! :)

But i still don't know, if it's kernel,intel-driver or pm-utils responsible for the bug.

PS how safe is it to remove the files from pm-utils, I mean, is the suspend state proper?

Cheers, Marek

I've just reported  FS#20886  which seems to be related to this.

For me helped this line in xorg.conf in Section "Device":

Option "NvAGP" "1"
