Description:
I bought a new sata dvdwr (samsung sh-s223c) and when I plug the device, boot freezes because of kernel panic.
My system is on ICH8R fakeraid0 and I plug the devive from this intel chipset controller. There is no problem if I plug device from Jmicron controller or Siliconimage controller. Btw there is no problem with my Ubuntu installation.

Additional info:
* package version(s)= All system is update without any unoffical repository.
* config and/or log files etc = well I dont know which logs are required. Please tell me which 1s are needed.

I think this problem is related with bios raid selection for ich8r. Similiar problem appears in Vista x64 too. I can not flash firmware of the device while motherboard's chipset is set as raid. I am using the dvdrw plugged from other controllers; siliconimage and/or jmicron.

Vista also fails to boot when this device is plugged in into ICH8R?

Vista doesnt fail to while the device is plugged. On the other hand I had written there was no problem with ubuntu installation but I dont know how/why a similiar problem had appeared with ubuntu too but I updated kernel with 2.6.35 and now ubuntu is ok and DVDwr works perfectly.

Yea, still it makes kernel panic.(sorry about the late answer)

Could you tell me which log files I should upload here?
-------------------------------------------------------

Well with 2.6.35.4-2, there is no kernel panic but in this time system does not find my raid arrays.
