Description:
Laptop-mode-tools doesn't set automatic Power Management Settings. I set this settings in /etc/laptop-mode/laptop-mode.conf: # # Power management for HD (hdparm -B values) # BATT_HD_POWERMGMT=254 LM_AC_HD_POWERMGMT=255 NOLM_AC_HD_POWERMGMT=255 When the laptop is on AC, the settings apply correctly, but when i plug out the cable (so change to Battery), the APM values change to 1, contrary to 254 in the settings above. Then if i restart laptop-mode manually (/etc/rc.d/laptop-mode restart) the settings apply in battery mode. Also if i change the settings with hdparm (hdparm -B 254 /dev/sda) it also works. Maybe is a problem with ACPI management, but i can't be sure where exactly begin to happen. Even if i active Verbose mode in laptop-mode syslog, it says that on battery change hdparm -B 254 /dev/sda. Soo... Additional info: * package version(s) Name : laptop-mode-tools Version : 1.55-1 * My laptop is a Dell XPS M1330. I upload my laptop-mode config file Steps to reproduce: - Start laptop-mode daemon normally with AC connected - Disconnect the cable changing to battery mode - Confirm APM levels with hdparm -I /dev/sda |

At first glance, I'm not sure if this is really a bug or a configuration issue, i.e. the default config is not working with your hardware/setup. It would probably be better to report this upstream and see what they'll say about it.
