Description:
When I installed the Chromium web browser package, the program icon for Chromium B.S.U (a game) was replaced with the icon for the Chromium web browser. Perhaps both the Chromium web browser and Chromium game (both unrelated) have the same icon file name?

Steps to reproduce:
Install chromium-bsu
Check the icon
Install chromium (web browser)
Check the icon for the chromium game

Ummm... are you sure?

Also,

> tar -tf /home/arch/pkgcache/i686/chromium-5.0.375.99-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz | grep bsu
>

My guess is you have a local .desktop file referring to a "chromium" icon as in the past chromium-bsu did not have one.

Do you have an entry in ~/.local/share/applications? I can not replicate.
Comment by Jeremy LaCroix (jlacroix) - Wednesday, 04 August 2010, 04:26 GMT
ls ~/.local/share/applications
extremetuxracer.desktop wine-extension-gif.desktop
frozen-bubble.desktop wine-extension-hlp.desktop
icecat-safe.desktop wine-extension-htm.desktop
mimeapps.list wine-extension-html.desktop

By the way, I'm on amd64, does that make a difference? If not, and you can't replicate this problem I guess you can close it.
Comment by Allan McRae (Allan) - Wednesday, 04 August 2010, 05:32 GMT
x86_64 should not make a difference. I will leave this open for a while to see if anyone else can replicate.
Comment by Jeremy LaCroix (jlacroix) - Wednesday, 04 August 2010, 11:03 GMT
I also should mention that when I go to kmenuedit to change the icon, the Chromium game icon is not there at all. It was before installing the browser. Perhaps it got written over?
Comment by Allan McRae (Allan) - Wednesday, 04 August 2010, 23:13 GMT
What does "pacman -Qk chromium-bsu" give you? Also, make sure you have chromium-bsu-0.9.14.1-1
Comment by Jeremy LaCroix (jlacroix) - Wednesday, 04 August 2010, 23:32 GMT
That command gives me:
chromium-bsu: 121 total files, 0 missing file(s)

From what I can tell I have the latest version.

Update: I set up an Arch VM so that I can play around with settings without changing my default setup. After I installed all my favorite programs (including chromium and chromium-bsu) I had this same exact issue again.
Comment by Allan McRae (Allan) - Saturday, 11 September 2010, 04:48 GMT
@Andrea,Ronald: Can you try replicating this. Long shot but perhaps it is a KDE issue?
Comment by Ronald van Haren (pressh) - Tuesday, 14 September 2010, 19:21 GMT
Weird, I can indeed replicate it in KDE when I have both installed. My e17 install is not affected.

Tried using quotes but that does not seem to help either, assuming I don't need to restart my session. OP can you see if there is a related upstream KDE bug report?
Comment by Allan McRae (Allan) - Wednesday, 15 September 2010, 08:57 GMT
Leaving to the KDE guys to sort out then! :)
Comment by Ionut Biru (wonder) - Thursday, 10 February 2011, 14:13 GMT
is this still a problem?
Comment by Jeremy LaCroix (jlacroix) - Thursday, 10 February 2011, 14:23 GMT
In my new install this hasn't happened, not sure if it's fixed or not. I would close this for now, the next time I reinstall Arch I will open this if I have the problem again.
Comment by Jeremy LaCroix (jlacroix) - Monday, 14 February 2011, 05:34 GMT
Just checked my configuration, this does still happen.
Comment by Ronald van Haren (pressh) - Monday, 14 February 2011, 15:08 GMT
I see I asked back in September last year if you have found/filed a report at KDE. That question still stands.
Comment by Jeremy LaCroix (jlacroix) - Monday, 14 February 2011, 23:19 GMT
No, I have not filed a bug report with KDE.
Comment by Ronald van Haren (pressh) - Thursday, 17 February 2011, 11:54 GMT
Please do so. I don't have time in the near future to go through the ?kdelibs sources to find where they get the menu icons from the desktop files.
