DetailsDescription:
The openttd-opengfx package uses precompiled binaries whereas it can easily be compiled from source. It can be easily compiled from source as it is done by Fedora, Debian (and thus Ubuntu) and Gentoo. The installation procedure is fairly straight forward as can be seen by e.g. http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/games-misc/opengfx/opengfx-0.2.4.ebuild?view=markup (Gentoo's packaging). If I had the knowledge and means to create and test an updated PKGBUILD I would have done so, but I have no experience with ArchLinux whatsoever. Additional info: * openttd-opengfx 0.2.4-1 Steps to reproduce: See that http://repos.archlinux.org/wsvn/community/openttd-opengfx/trunk/PKGBUILD does not list http://bundles.openttdcoop.org/opengfx/releases/opengfx-0.2.4-source.tar.gz which is the source bundle. As such it is not compiling from source. |

Generally I'd agree, building from source is preferred since it uses our optimizations. However, this would require the addition of catcodec to community. In this case, I do not believe it is worth adding catcodec simply to allow building two packages from source that already have functional binaries.
