Description:
Hi. Today I have noticed that automount doesn't work at all. If I insert a compact disk and reboot my system, after it startup CD is mounted and works well. If I click "umount" in dolphin it works, but if I put even the same CD back it's fail.

My system hang, when I tried this command "sudo mount /dev/hdc /mnt/cd", but it's happened one time and now it works.

It's related only to optical compacts. I tried my phone, the flash drive and the xfs partition on my HDD (I ummount it and comment its line in /etc/fstab to give to hal mount it), all works well.

Dmesg says nothing, everything.log too. So, I am not sure that this is Arch bug, sorry if not.

in what file manager?
Comment by Alexander (heaven) - Saturday, 17 July 2010, 13:35 GMT
I use KDE with its file manager dolphin. Previously I seen plasma notification when I put a disc into the drive. This disc also was visible in dolphin, but now it's nothing here.

i think is a configuration error from your side.

1) hal is not running
2) your session is not authorized with consolekit (solution use kdm or exec ck-launch-session startkde in .xinitrc)
2) wrong modules in mkinitcpio.conf since your device is hdc. it should be /dev/sr0
Comment by Alexander (heaven) - Saturday, 17 July 2010, 14:59 GMT
1) hal runned, pidof hald → 1541
2) I already use kdm
3) MODULES="", HOOKS="base udev autodetect pata scsi sata resume filesystems"

Also, /dev/sr0 not found at all, but it's existed previously.

It's from lshal.
   hdc.conf (3.9 KiB)

And I think there is not dolphin problem. KDE doesn't show the notification when I inserted a compact disk and this disk is missed in the dolphin devices list.

The bug was fixed by the next command sudo pacman -Rdn udev device-mapper hal upower and then sudo pacman -S udev device-mapper hal upower
Pity that I've not did it gradually and then I do not know, which of these packages is the cause... I think this isn't upower :)
