Description:
Unmounting device usb is very slow in xfce. One application used the device and I wait more seconds...

I see in the terminal..

lsof /media/disk
COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME
xdg-scree 15667 ugaciaka cwd DIR 8,33 4096 2 /media/disk
sleep 15683 ugaciaka cwd DIR 8,33 4096 2 /media/disk

I don't undesrtand because the device usb have this process...


Steps to reproduce:
Mount a device usb, write with a file, umount device...see in terminal respons, e.g., of lsof /media/disk

What happens if you don't write a file but unmount it without doing much file I/O? Long delays on unmount could mean the kernel is still flushing data to the stick.

I explained bad, unmount is slow because it is blocked for a while 'time from these processes: xdg-screen and sleep in execution on device usb.

Until a week ago unmount was so normal slow if I copied GB of stuff but now is blocked by these processes that I've never seen.

I use ext4 without journaling in device usb...

please try to reproduce this from a plain tty shell. this doesn't sound like a Xfce issue.

The problem is auto-solved...but I'dont understand why...
