ok, so for some reason vdpau-video is not working. you are on i686 or x86_64?

can you rebuild vdpau-video?
Comment by ugaciaka (ugaciaka) - Saturday, 10 July 2010, 16:06 GMT
I use x86_64, I rebuild vdpau-video but not resolved
Comment by Ionut Biru (wonder) - Saturday, 10 July 2010, 16:10 GMT
i don't have any clues left. for me everything works fine, x86_64

lib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
libva: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva: Trying to open /usr/lib/va/drivers/nvidia_drv_video.so
libva: va_openDriver() returns 0
[0x1700b90] avcodec decoder: Using VA API version 0.31 for hardware decoding.

maybe you hit into a bug and needs to be reported to libva

vlc 1.1.0-3 not resolved my problem, I out for work and I can't reply...
Comment by Ionut Biru (wonder) - Thursday, 15 July 2010, 20:46 GMT
then something is fishy on your end.

vlc 1.1.0-1 was using the exact dependencies and version like vlc 1.1.0-3 is right now.
Comment by Ionut Biru (wonder) - Friday, 16 July 2010, 13:53 GMT
what card do you have? did you look to see if can handle vdpau?

@wonder

can I see your pacman -Qdt? Maybe I have an idea...
Comment by Ionut Biru (wonder) - Sunday, 25 July 2010, 16:23 GMT
are you sure that you mean -Qdt? that list is useless and in my system i don't have any packages that are not needed in my system

pacman -Ss vdpau-video
extra/vdpau-video 0.6.9-2 [installato: 0.6.10-1]
VDPAU backend for VA API

I installed vpdau-video 0.6.10-1 from my partition pacman with pacman -U...and work now!!!

pacman -Qs vdpau
local/libva 0.31.0_p13-2
libva with patches to extend VA API with data needed for VDPAU and XvBA backends.
local/libvdpau 0.4-1
Nvidia VDPAU library
local/vdpau-video 0.6.10-1
VDPAU backend for VA API

but If I update my system with pacman -Syu vdpau-video updated with old version 0.6.9 ... is impossible!!! It's wrong!!!

sudo pacman -Syu

Comment by Ionut Biru (wonder) - Tuesday, 03 August 2010, 17:59 GMT
but you initially said that 0.6.10 didn't worked and now does?

0.6.9 from extra has a force flag to downgrade
Comment by Ionut Biru (wonder) - Tuesday, 03 August 2010, 18:00 GMT
and you can't actually use 0.6.10 from your cache since that is linked to the new libva version.

i guess is failing loading and that's why is working for you
Comment by ugaciaka (ugaciaka) - Tuesday, 03 August 2010, 18:05 GMT
"but you initially said that 0.6.10 didn't worked and now does?"

yes, and I don't understand...

and I don't understand anything... XD I say only that now work... XD

vlc 1.1.2-2
libva 1.0.4-1
vdpau-video 0.6.10-1

work, but with vdpau-video 0.6.10-2 not work...
Comment by Ionut Biru (wonder) - Thursday, 12 August 2010, 08:40 GMT
vdpau-video 0.6.10-1 is compiled against older libva and fails loading. that's why is working.

my guesses is that is a bug in vlc or vdpau-video because is loading only partially and vlc thinks that is loaded.

post the output of vainfo when having the vdpau-video 0.6.10-2
Comment by Ionut Biru (wonder) - Saturday, 09 October 2010, 12:51 GMT
does it work now with libva 1.0.5, vdpau-video 0.7.2 and vlc 1.1.4.1 ?
Comment by ugaciaka (ugaciaka) - Saturday, 09 October 2010, 13:49 GMT
no :-(

Comment by Ionut Biru (wonder) - Saturday, 19 February 2011, 17:07 GMT
this doesn't have anything to do with vlc or libva or vdpau-video. is either a bug in nvidia driver or your card is not supported by vdpau.
