So, I wanted to watch the new iPod-Shuffle ad from Apple's website: http://www.apple.com/ipodshuffle/ads/640.html
The mplayer libs install on my machine support that kind of .mov file and mplayer-plugin playbacks the video just fine, but it has no sound! Please note that all other Apple Quicktime videos (trailers for example) with the Firefox/mplayer-plugin combo don't have sound either.

If I save down the above file (right click on the movie above) and try to load it locally, gmplayer plays it just fine, *with* sound. And so does Xine or Totem. The sound problem is with the browser plugin only.

I have not tested other kinds of online videos with mplayer-plugins and firefox.

Read at the bottom of the FAQ: http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/faq.php You have compiled mplayer-plugin without FAAD support and that's why we can't hear sounds on the mov files on Apple's website (which is a very popular place to watch trailers btw). Please recompile the latest version of mplayer-plugin with FAAD and test it with Apple's files.

Well, this is not a mplayer-plugin bug, it's a missing feature of mplayer itself, you see if you want to add FAAD support, you need to have it under mplayer, basically the plugin runs mplayer inside the browser window..

So, I've checked this out and worked for me, this is not a real bug nor is related to the plugin but to the player itself.
